Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of PocketPinch (“the app,” “we,” “us”), an iOS app made by Ntafo Studios that estimates whether you can afford a purchase right now, based on your linked bank data. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What PocketPinch is — and isn't

PocketPinch is an informational tool. It reads your bank balance and recent activity to produce an affordability score and a plain-English explanation to help you make everyday spending decisions.

It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a bank, lender, or money-transmission service. The score is an estimate generated from the data available to the app and may be incomplete or out of date. You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. Always verify important numbers with your bank before you act on them.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use PocketPinch. The app is intended for use in the United States with U.S.-based financial institutions.

Bank connection and third-party services

PocketPinch relies on third-party services to work, and your use of the app is also subject to their terms:

• Plaid handles the connection to your bank. Your bank login credentials are entered with Plaid and are never seen or stored by us. Your use of that connection is governed by Plaid's end-user policies.
• Anthropic (Claude) generates the written explanation for your score and helps identify items from photos, URLs, and vague item names. The score itself is computed on your device — Claude does not set it.
• UPCitemdb is used to look up product name and price from a scanned barcode.

We don't control these providers and aren't responsible for their availability, accuracy, or acts and omissions.

Sample data mode

The app offers a “Try with sample data” mode that loads generated, fictional financial data so you can explore the app without linking a bank. Sample figures are illustrative only and do not reflect any real account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• attempt to access data or accounts that aren't yours;
• reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the app or its providers, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or security;
• use the app to provide financial services to third parties.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ntafo Studios will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any financial loss, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app or any decision you make based on it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, if any.

Changes to the app and these Terms

We may update, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. If we change these Terms in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
